Ghostwriter Diaries 22

Haunted typewriter

FIVE DAYS until submission!

My editing session this morning was smooth and strong, much like the coffee that fuelled it. Today’s challenges included bringing an important secondary character a little more centre-stage (I’d inadvertantly sidelined him in the thick of the battle action). I also made a few changes in one chapter that needed foreshadowing in the previous. This meant a lot of time spent flipping back and forth, joining the dots.

I’m over halfway through the final section of the novel, which means there really is light at the end of the tunnel. My aim is to deal with all the editorial team’s comments by the end of the week. That will leave me the weekend (realistically, Sunday) to make a final sweep of the complete MS, deal with the (mercifully short) list of my own notes that are still outstanding, and generally finish up.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. A lot can happen in five days. Frankly, if I’m going to get this novel ghostwritten on time, it has to! Avanti!

What do you think?
