The Scrimshaw Bridge spans two rivers — the Lethe and the Styx — and was carved using ivory mined from Big Tusk Mountain. Because ivory has the power to amplify bad dreams, traders have long used the bridge to import despair from the Unknown Worlds. The adjacent Long Horn Bridge — once the conduit for String City’s supplies of inspiration — collapsed many years ago.
Every year, members of the Campaign for Hope gather on the Scrimshaw Bridge to lobby for its demolition. Thanks to the bridge’s legendary dark aura, meetings rarely last more than thirty minutes and usually end with one or more of the campaigners throwing themselves into the river.
