The New Year began for me with a surprise delivery in my mailbox. My author comps of the complete Catacombia trilogy, written under the pseudonym R.L. Ferguson, just arrived. These fantasy novels for young readers are published by Ravensburger in German translation, with fabulous cover design by Miriam Wasmus. Having spent a happy half-hour rearranging my entire bookshelf to accommodate the new volumes, I immediately went back to my current work-in-progress: the upcoming self-published reissue of my second novel Dragonstorm.
I first mentioned the project in this recent blog post and I guess there’s not much to add at this early stage … except maybe to tease you further with a sneak preview of the new cover design. It’s a work-in-progress, with the illustration only partially completed and the final colour palette still undecided, but it’ll give you a taste of what to expect.
Alongside the Dragonstorm reissue, I recently reached a milestone in my next fantasy trilogy for young readers. My lips must remain completely sealed on this for now, but I can tell you that I completed the first draft manuscript this month, January 2023. Next comes a rigorous round of editing. I’ll share more on this exciting new project as we approach publication later in the year.
